Week
1: Camping – We will talk and sing about what you can do while
camping and how to take care of nature. We will make a popsicle
stick cabin, binoculars, a canoe, a nature wreath, and paint logs for
our campfire.
Week
2: Camping – We will sing and talk about fishing, what you eat
while camping, and campground safety rules. We will make a campfire
picture, a tent picture, paint with a leaf brush, and “camp out!”
Week
3: Flowers/Plants – We will talk about the parts of a tree, what
plants need to grow, and how plants eat and drink. We will sort
seeds by size, “build” a tree, make a watering can, salty
squiggles, and a dandelion.
Week
4: Flowers/Plants – We will talk about fungus, parts of flowers,
what parts of plants we eat, and compare flowers and trees. We will
sort living things by plant or not plant, make a tree or flower out
of play dough, make a flower from different shapes, paint flowers,
and make a paper plate sunflower.
Week
5: Summer Safety – Since Memorial Day marks the unofficial start
of summer, we will talk about safety rules for outside play, water
safety, and safety around strangers (and animal strangers). We will
draw our family and label their names, make a bike helmet, experiment
with what will sink or float in water, and make a play dough dog.
One safety issue we would like to work on is learning our first AND
last name.
