Dear Parents:

Welcome to the Lion Room!!!  It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to be part of your child’s learning experience.  Here are some of the activities we have planned for the month of September:

Week One:  Down By The Creek—we will be introducing our first PATHS lesson with Twiggle the Turtle.  We will be talking about where turtles live, having a “what’s under the turtle’s shell” activity, a sink/float activity, making a pantyhose snake, and a special turtle cracker snack.

Week Two:  Down By The Creek (part 2)—we will be talking about what lives in a creek, playing an alphabet fishing game, having a puzzle pair activity, making paper plate goldfish, as well as magic mud.

Week Three:  Apples, Leaves, Trees—we will be talking about the stages of the apple tree,  discussing what colors leaves turn in the Fall, what foods come from apples, playing a pass the apple game, and having a counting apple activity.  We will also be having a taste test to see which of us like apple juice and which prefer cider.  We will chart the results of our taste test.

Week Four:  Apple, Leaves, Trees (part 2)—we will have an apple matching game, playing in the sand table, talking about trees that keep their leaves in the Fall, making Fall trees,  playing pass the apple, making apple prints and leaf prints.  We will also talk about our favorite foods that come from apples.
